Two local interior design industry veterans have teamed up to form ICON Design, an interior design firm that will specialize in serving the commercial real estate and high-end residential markets.
The firm combines the talents of Ronda Landa of Salt Lake City and Penny Adams of Sandy, each of whom has more than 20 years experience in the design, planning, layout and marketing of tenant improvement projects for commercial buildings. Office space in Salt Lake City is being sought.
"We really love design and enjoy being in control of the total project," said Landa. ICON Design, she said, will market itself as a full-service commercial interior design firm. "We both have solid design backgrounds and we're the perfect complement to each other."
"We think there's a huge market for our services and talents," said Adams. "The need we've found is being able to provide clients with full-service design. We help clients with the repositioning of their buildings, we work with real estate brokers and end users, and we work directly with the architect. It streamlines the entire process."
Landa said she and Adams both have a good eye for interior design, but each brings a different overall skill set to the equation. Landa will be in charge of business development and marketing, while Adams will focus more on the technical production end.
"A partnership like this sometimes can be difficult to make work, especially if you have the same skills," said Landa. "We think this is perfect because we're both interior designers, but we have different strengths. I love to go out and meet people and I have a lot of great contacts in the industry. Penny is very meticulous about production details and creating proposals. We make a good team."
ICON Design will help commercial real estate brokers, general contractors and other large end user clients with renovation items such as interior and exterior finishes, concrete, parapet walls, landscaping, maintenance, signage, parking and the overall marketing image of a building. Landa and Adams will pool their collective design talents when assisting firms in choosing new furniture, window coverings, floor coverings and other finishes.
Landa previously worked as a sales and marketing specialist for Midwest Office Inc., Salt Lake City, and was a principal of R&R Enterprises from 1995 to 2005. She is a native of California and also served as a senior designer for the Los Angeles Times and Times Mirror for seven years.
